An enthusiast in the field of human rights, Sanya Darakhshan Kishwar holds a Masters in General Laws (LL.M.) from the Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. and an Integrated Bachelors in Law and Science (B.Sc. LL.B. (H)) from Central University of South Bihar, India. She has passed her LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Leeds, U.K., with Distinction.
She was the recipient of the Best Law Student of India Award in 2018. She has keen interest in the field of gender justice and has been a member of the Gender Sensitization and Equal Opportunity Cell in her undergraduate years. Her dissertation at Leeds highlighted the inadequacy of the existing international framework in addressing the increase in rates of child marriages in areas affected by armed conflicts. She received Distinction in her dissertation.
