Registering a Cyber Crime complaint is not Rocket Science.
The definition of cyber crime is pretty hard to cop up with today’s age, where the data over the internet is spreading like wildfire and snowballing into an enormous avalanche. But the basic definition of cyber crime is any illegal activity that uses a computer as its primary means of commission.
The rate of cyber crime in India is on the increase too but the figures might alarm you more. As per the study findings, during 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 years, the whole number of cyber crimes registered was 13,301, 22,060 71,780 and 62,189 (till May). Currently, the cyber crimes in India are nearly around 1,49,254 and it may likely cross the figure of 3,00,000 by 2015 growing at a compounded annual growth rate i.e. (CAGR) of about 107 percent. As per the findings, monthly nearly 12,456 cases registered in India.
To tackle the problem of cyber crimes, CIDs (Criminal Investigation Departments) of varied cities spread out along with Cyber Crime Cells in several cities. The Information Technology Act of India states clearly that when the cyber crime has been committed, it has global jurisdiction. and hence a complaint can easily be filed at any cyber cell.
Let us have a glance at the steps one is to follow to file a cyber crime complaint.
STEP 1: Keep one thing in mind that all you will need to provide name, E-mail Address & phone number together with an application letter addressing the pinnacle of a cyber crime investigation cell when you go to file a complaint.
STEP 2: As in the majority of police cases, the complainant will need to provide the subsequent papers and documents at the time of filing the complaint. The valid documents are:
